1. Private Farm Tours
These are the "heart and soul" of the Preserve. You will spend at least 2 hours touring the Village, meeting our ambassadors, strolling our educational walking trail, taking a hayride around the farm, and petting lots of ponies and horses born in the wild. You will need to contact us through email or phone to set up an appointment. We do this throughout the year, depending on the weather. You will learn about the 9 herds here in the East as well as the free-roaming horses of West Virginia and Kentucky. We hope you will be inspired to get outdoors and find these wild beauties yourself. It is good for the body and the soul)) Minimum donation: $50.00
2. Programs for Scheduled School Groups and Other Groups
As an educational facility, we love visitors who come to our farm to learn and to enjoy the great outdoors! Our group packages are customized to fit the needs and preferences of each group. We vary activities to accommodate different age groups, abilities, and interests. Our basic charge is $10.00 per participant with a $50.00 surcharge for groups of less than 20. We can cater lunch for an additional charge, or groups can bring in their own food. We provide tables and chairs. Contact us for more information.
3. Birthday Parties
How about a birthday party on a farm with horses? We plan all kinds of activities and can even cater lunch if you so choose. We set up tables and chairs, and each child will get a wild horse bracelet to take home. For groups of 12 or more, $15 per child, for groups of less than 12, $20 per child.
Each additional child is $15.00. For the adults, we will entertain them, too! Contact us for more information.
4. Special Events
Getting married? Want to host a farm dinner? Having a reunion? We offer our farm as a great rustic venue. Our prices will vary according to your wants and needs, and we can even do the catering. Contact us to arrange for you to visit and check us out! Grayce Wynds might just be your perfect setting! NOTE: We hosted a rehearsal dinner, and the bride and groom wanted a carriage ride around the farm. This can be booked, also.
5. Horse Boarding
We are not a full-service barn with arenas and riding instruction, but we do accept a limited number of boarders for pasture board. We charge $350.00 per month which includes 24-hr hay and/or grass, fresh water, and shelter. It also includes a feed-through supplement to control flies. We do not stall horses, but we have a barn if stall rest is warranted. Horses come here on a trial basis to make sure pasture mates get along well. We would not put horses together who cannot get along. Contact us for more information. Your horse would be loved!
6. Wild Horse Tours to Rachel Carson Reserve, Beaufort, NC
With our knowledge of the coastal wild horses, we take scheduled groups up to Beaufort for a guided wild horse tour. We can help people find them although sometimes it can be challenging. We charge $75.00 per person for the all-day excursion. This includes the 2.5 hour drive up and back, the water taxi over to the Reserve, about 2 hours of hiking and photographing, lunch on Front Street (on your own). Contact us for more information. Have you ever gone in search of wild horses??
7. Fall Festival open to the public ("Ponies and Pumpkins")
Every Friday in October, we open the farm for visitors. We offer a hayride at 4:00, 4:30, 5:00, and 5:00 to the pumpkin patch to get a pumpkin. Then, we paint them in the Village, pet the friendly Graysons, and watch an outdoor movie about 6:00. This year we are showing "The Black Stallion," a true classic! Cost is $10 for an adult and $7.00 for a child (under 12). Children under 3 are free! How about a night out?
8. Speaking Engagement
Sue Immen, retired public educator, speaks to groups about the wild ponies and horses in the Eastern United States. She has presented at museums, 4H gatherings, and public libraries. She has even taken Asher to help her. Ms. Immen has studied the horses in depth, and she and her husband produced the DVD "In Search of the Wild Horses of the East Coast: Learn About the Herds and How to Find Them." She has also authored the Sunny and Jess story book series for children. Sunny and Jess are Chincotague ponies and were purchased by the Immens in 2014. Contact her for more information.
